Hello! My name is Sammy, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Yuma Chamber of Commerce. I cannot wait to begin getting to know all of you in the time that follows and am incredibly eager to learn more about how I can help your business. Today, however, I would love to tell you a little bit about myself so that you know who it is reaching out to you moving forward.

A Bit About Me

A little over a year ago, I moved to the Yuma County area with my boyfriend for his job with the state. Fast forward a year, and we’ve found a beautiful home outside of town that sits on 300-acres of corn fields, we have two rowdy pups that keep us busy, and we have finally settled down in this sweet, little town.

I am family focused. I have two younger sisters and a family that I talk to every day. I am outgoing. People are my passion, and I love being able to get out there putting names to faces, and stories to names. If you see me in town, you can always wave me down to talk. I am goal oriented. The last couple of years I have made long lists of accomplishments to achieve. This year, I am working on my baking, so if you’re a lover of sweet treats, I’ve got you covered.

These are just a few of the things that make me, me. Aside from that, I’m an animal lover, a music enthusiast, and so much more. I am an open book and extremely excited to get to know all of you on a more personal level too.

My Professional Background

In 2014 I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, just two hours away in Greeley. I graduated as a double major, having studied:

  • Journalism with an emphasis in marketing and advertising
  • Communication with an emphasis in human communication and mass media

It was in college that I realized my passion for small businesses. I loved being able to interact directly with the passion of the business owners. Throughout college, I worked closely with small, local businesses in Greeley, Fort Collins, and Castle Rock, which only burned my passion brighter.

Shortly after graduating, I landed a position at Madwire, an online marketing company in Fort Collins that works to help small to medium sized businesses with their online presence. When I got hired on, Madwire had just hit their 100th employee; I was working for a small sized business, helping out other small to medium-sized businesses.

I’m in my fifth year at Madwire and continue to love the work we do. However, the moment that we moved out here and I was immersed in small-town living, I couldn’t help but want to get involved in the community and hang out at the local places. It didn’t take long to recognize the talent and passion that lives right here in Yuma. The moment I heard about this job, I went home and applied.

Here’s to the Future

I am hopeful that in my time as your Executive Director, I can put my personality and education into play for the benefit of our town, and you, it’s economic drivers. As I said before, I’m extremely excited about this position and everything that the future holds for the Yuma Chamber of Commerce. I hope to be getting in touch with all chamber members within the next couple of weeks to learn more about you and your business. Until then, have a great day!
