Happy Monday Yuma! Can you believe we are only a week away from December? Thanksgiving is in just four short days and the Christmas spirit is already visible throughout the town. With the holidays in full swing, there are countless things that are taking place. Check out today’s Week at a Glance so that you are aware of all the fun things to get out and do. 

Free Thanksgiving Dinner at On the Green

On the Green will be opening their doors at noon on Thanksgiving and will be welcoming anyone that doesn’t have family to spend the day with or has a too tight a budget to prepare a holiday meal. The Thanksgiving buffet will be FREE. They want to ensure that this meal reaches out to anyone that needs it. As long as people are eating, their doors will be open.

Giving Christmas Trees

The Giving Hands of Yuma County is gearing up for their annual Giving Christmas Trees to benefit children in Yuma County. Trees will be placed in Shop All, Hardware Hank, and ACE Hardware. These trees will go up just before Thanksgiving. All gifts that are purchased for this tree can be dropped off at the businesses above as well as Basically Business, Wray Clinic, and Wray Hospital in Wray. Gifts must be turned in no later than December 12th.

This is a fantastic way to give back to those in need during the holiday season.

Black Friday & Small Business Saturday

After a day of spending time with family and sleeping off the turkey dinner, bundle up and head out to town for tons of incredible Black Friday and Small Business Saturday deals. There are countless businesses that are offering great promotions! Below are a few of the deals that you can look forward to.

Ace Quality Farm and Ranch Center in Yuma will be open Monday through Saturday from 7:00  a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. They have special prices on gift items and tons of new Montana Jewelry for you to browse. If your little one is gushing over the recent Frozen release, stop by and check out their new Frozen stuffed animals.

Country Stitches will be open on both Friday and Saturday. If you shop from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday  you can take an extra 20% off your purchase. Racks in the store will be marked down 20% and 50%. Hours: Fri: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sat: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Farm House Market will be open their regular hours on Black Friday  to help fuel you through your Christmas shopping. They will also be open on Small Business Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and are offering a free small fresh brew coffee to all guests. Enter to win a drawing for 3 gift cards while you’re there.

Flowers Express will be open on Black Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and on Small Business Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Stop by and take advantage of discounts on fall items and more! When you head in to Flowers Express, pick a pumpkin and enjoy the additional discount on the pumpkin! 

Lu Ella Women’s Boutique will be open on Black Friday from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Small Business Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Stop in and check out all of their discounted clothing.

The Yuma Theater will be open on Black Friday and have a 2:00 showing of Frozen 2 and is offering $1.00 off all ticket prices. Tickets will be: $4.00 for kids, $6.00 for adults, and $5.00 for seniors.

Wildlee will be open on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will have a special deal for the first few customers of the day. The will also have spin the wheel for fun discounts all day long! On Small Business Saturday, they will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and will have 20% off all merchandise storewide! On top of that, there will also be door prizes both days. 

Shop Local Prime Rib Giveaway

Have you ever wanted to be rewarded for shopping? Well the Yuma Chamber of Commerce wants to do just that! For the first two weeks of December, hold onto your receipts from local businesses for a chance to win a prime rib! Write your name and phone number on the back of your receipt and drop it off at: Shop-All, City Hall, Lu Ella Women’s Boutique, Flower’s Express, Wildlee, Wags and Whiskers, Ace Hardware, and Farm House Market.

Gingerbread House Competition

The Yuma Chamber of Commerce is pairing up with Yuma’s Kookie Fairy to bring you a festive gingerbread house competition! Kits are $30.00 and include everything needed to create a house. There will be two age groups: 10 and under and 11 to 17. The most creative house of each age group will win an eight inch Onn tablet! To register and get your kit ordered. Hometown Christmas with Reggie Reindeer

First Farm Bank will be hosting Reggie the Reindeer for the second year in a row! Stop by the Yuma Fairgrounds on Tuesday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for tons of fun activities. Stop by and meet Reggie, the real-life reindeer and Santa Clause! There will also be hay rides, cookies, and refreshments. This event is FREE and open to the public.

Winterfest – December 14th

There are so many fun things that are going to be happening this year at Winterfest. We are excited to start Business Bingo where participants will be able to enter each completed bingo for the chance to win our grand prize. There will also be the parade of lights, pajamas and pancakes at the library, performances at Red Willow, the gingerbread house contest, pictures with Santa, fun crafts for kids, popcorn, hot cocoa, and so much more. Make sure that you mark your calendars, because this year’s Winterfest will be a day you don’t want to miss!

Save Our Windows Flower Fundraiser

During the month of November, stop by The Home Place and pick up a Grab-n-Go bouquet of selected fall arrangements for just $20! These bouquets make for perfect center pieces at the dinner table, thank you flowers, or just a sweet thinking of you gift.
Proceeds will go towards the renovation of the First Presbyterian’s stained glass windows.

Craft Night – December 12th

Bring your closest friends and family to the Yuma Community Center for craft night on December 12th. This month, there will be a fun mason jar craft that just so happens to make the most adorable holiday decoration. Whether you choose to use it for some extra holiday spirit at the office or you give it as a gift, you can guarantee this is a class that you’ll enjoy. The class is $20 for 4 mason jars for your choice of design. All supplies will be included and the class will be taught by Sarah Edwards.

Census 2020

The Census is going to be taking place from March through August of 2020. The information collected during this time contributes to the amount of funding that our county receives. The postcards will be sent to individual households to inform people where they can fill out their information. All information collected is completely confidential and can be answered in over 13 different languages. If you have any questions about the census, feel free to ask!

Frozen 2 at the Yuma Theater

The beloved Elsa and Anna are going to be at the Yuma theater for the next three weeks! The popular movie has been a hit, and while there will be plenty of time to go and watch the movie, we anticipate it being SO popular that you’ll need plenty of time

The show times are 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $5.00 for children (0-11), $7.00 for adults (12-64), and $6.00 for seniors (65+).
