Tax Credit Benefits

Donations are a fantastic way to help the organizations throughout Yuma County. One of the areas that we all see the need to support are the organizations that manage our child care and early childhood education. Something that many don’t know, however, is that when you donate to organizations like these, you receive a generous credit on your taxes!

When you donate to the Early Childhood Council for Yuma, Washington, and Kit Carson Counties, you can receive a 50% credit on Colorado tax. Individuals or business donations will help give kids access to quality child care by enabling these counties to recruit and retain quality child care providers and professionals. For any questions on making a donation or the tax credit, visit the Early Childhood Council website at www.eccywk.org or by phone at 970-360-9099.

File Your Taxes for FREE

Tax season is coming up and texhelp Colorado is a fantastic way to file your taxes for free! If your household income was $56,000 or less in 2019, you are eligible for FREE trustworthy tax filing services from an IRS-certified preparer!

Take advantage of in-person help at Morgan Community College in Wray or file your own taxes for free online if you make $66,000 or less at MyFreeTaxes.com.

Census 2020

The Census is going to be taking place from March through August of 2020. The information collected during this time contributes to the amount of funding that our county receives. The postcards will be sent to individual households to inform people where they can fill out their information. All information collected is completely confidential and can be answered in over 13 different languages. If you have any questions about the census, feel free to ask!

Sara House Yuma Office Open House

We are so incredibly excited to welcome Sara House to the city of Yuma! Though they’ve had an office here for a while, their team has grown and so has their efforts in being a helping hand in the community. On February 21st, they will be hosting an open house so that the community can get a tour of the office, meet the staff, and enjoy refreshments. Stop by from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at 910 South Main St. on the second floor.

Spanish Classes at MCC through Global Classroom

Morgan Community College is going to be offering two separate Spanish classes from February 3rd through May 8th. You can learn conversational Spanish or, if you’re a business owner, learn the basics on communicating with your customers. These classes are done through the global classroom. Register online at MorganCC.edu.
